My Approach

TL;DR I work primarily with young adults (18-30) who find themselves depressed and/or anxious.

There’s almost always more to the story and it can be helpful to uncover the “why”—biology, family, religion, interpersonal issues, body dissatisfaction, trauma, etc. It’s also important to cultivate coping skills so that we can tolerate the distress that comes from bringing up difficult topics (and coping with life in general). I try to help clients do both of these things by being a reliable and safe person, and making sure the therapeutic process is tailored to the unique needs of each individual.

+ I tend to view therapy from an existential and human-centered approach. That is, we are constantly grappling with the ideas of meaning, isolation, death, and freedom. And that the primary agent of change is the therapeutic relationship—that is, how you and I relate to one another and work through what’s going on.
+ I’m not a specialist in any specific “type” of therapy, but I pull from therapeutic modalities such as Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Internal Family Systems.
+ I also know that we don’t live in a vacuum—systems impact us. We should consider them when trying to understand ourselves, and acknowledge the impact they have on our mental health and relationships.

Below is a non-exhaustive list of what my clients tend to struggle with—
+ anxiety about the future
+ depression
+ social anxiety
+ perfectionism
+ wondering whether life is worth living
+ whether they identify with values they were taught
+ religious trauma
