How Therapy Works

Former clients have described me as warm, genuine, helpful, and empathetic. Whether we’re talking about current events or analyzing deeply rooted patterns and beliefs, my approach is to be curious and compassionate. I bring my personality into the room with me (metaphors, cursing, and occasional awkwardness included) and I invite you to do the same. We’ll talk about the difficult stuff, but also celebrate every success along the way.

I also want to acknowledge that circumstances are not always within our control, and change isn’t about just “trying harder.” Politics, classism, racism, and other systems can and do impact how we move through the world. I think it’s vital to discuss these in therapy and name when they are impacting your life and goals.

I’m not a specialist in any specific “type” of therapy, but I pull from therapeutic modalities such as Narrative Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Internal Family Systems.

About Me

I moved to St. Louis in 2019 after living in Oregon, Tennessee, Alabama, Louisiana, and abroad. I’ve been working with clients since 2016 in a variety of settings (college counseling centers, substance use facility, crisis line, private practice, and higher education administration). I feel very aligned with this profession and love helping people understand themselves and make meaningful change.

In my free time, I like to run, bake, read, and watch TV. I also enjoy cats, cold brew coffee, and stand-up comedy. Life is hard, and laughter is a wonderful medicine.
